Davis Cording Newcomb, a boy whose name encompasses an entire lineage of family, was delivered into this world on April 27, 2017 at 4:52am. Exhausted from a sleepless night of contractions and nurses, mom Lindsay spent less than 15min pushing to deliver her miracle baby boy into a room filled of love.
The many hours leading up to the birth were by no surprise filled with jokes, silly 'what if' family games, and a lot of laughter. Lindsay's husband Lawson never left her side, her amazing sister Annie kept the ice chips full and the mood light, and the calming force of Lindsay's mother quietly massaging her daughter's head and patiently awaited to meet her new grandson. At home with Grandpa, big sister Hadley, calmly slept without the faintest clue that her world was changing that night. From that point on, she was to be a big sister.
To be allowed into a room, so private and so raw of emotions, I am still humbled by the experience. To photograph a first breath, a first look, first hand hold, first tear, first kiss of a mom to her boy, still chokes me up with emotion. The images of a birth are not glamorous, nor should they be. They are real and gritty, and perfection in every way.
This is a story in pictures, of the delivery of a beautiful baby boy named Davis, 8lb 4oz & 21.5 in. long, and his incredible supermom...
Special thanks for the Newcomb family for allowing me into their space, and the Easton Hospital for their kind & accommodating staff.
